In February 2020, we established the Japanese subsidiary of our portfolio, Infarm (a vertical farming startup from Berlin), and Ikuo Hiraishi managed the company as the representative director of the company. Due to the deterioration of the financing environment caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the interest rate hike by the U.S. Federal Reserve, we withdrew from the Japanese market and dissolved the Japanese subsidiary.

To leverage this valuable experience, we have once again set out to globalize the Japanese startup ecosystem and create a framework for nurturing global startups from Japan, an issue we have been aware of since the company was founded.
